Space City Orthodontics brings you a revolutionary, non-surgical solution for adults and teens: Miniscrew-Assisted Rapid Palatal Expansion (MARPE). Unlike traditional expanders that rely on teeth and are limited to younger patients, MARPE uses temporary anchorage devices (TADs) to anchor directly into the palatal bone, allowing for effective skeletal expansion even after the mid-palatal suture has fused (typically around ages 12–15).
Why Choose MARPE at SpaceCity?
- Non-Surgical Jaw Expansion: Achieve true skeletal changes without the need for invasive Surgical Assisted Rapid Palatal Expansion (SARPE) or orthognathic surgery.
- Improved Airway & Breathing: Widening the upper jaw expands the nasal cavity and oral space, significantly improving airflow and helping to alleviate symptoms of Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA).
- Minimal Dental Side Effects: By targeting the bone rather than tipping the teeth, MARPE prevents unwanted root resorption and excessive tooth movement, preserving periodontal health.
- Customized & Precise: Our custom-fitted appliances ensure symmetrical expansion, correcting posterior crossbites and creating room for crowded teeth with predictable, stable long-term results.

The SpaceCity Difference
Our process is minimally invasive, performed under local anesthesia with minimal discomfort. Active expansion typically lasts 2–4 months, followed by a retention phase to stabilize new bone growth. At Space City Orthodontics, we combine advanced 3D imaging with expert clinical care to enhance your smile, bite, and overall health.
